Historic Warships

Sited at the Dock Road, about 1 mile from Seacombe Ferry is the Historic Warships Collection .

To get there, from Seacombe Ferry go along Birkenhead Road to the bridges, round the roundabout and straight on.  The first thing you will see is a German U-boat.

The collection comprises HMS Plymouth, a type 42 Destroyer and HMS Onyx, a submarine,  LCT7074, possibly the only surviving Landing Craft Tank from D-Day, and U534, this is the only wartime U-boat raised and put on display.

A non-warship, but one that was important to Liverpool shipping, is the Bar Lightship.

The U-boat is a seperate tour to the other ships.

At present there is some demolition work going on, but when that is finished the Preservation Trust are hoping to turn the remaining flour mill into a display and visitor centre.  An apt choice, as the mill survived the May Blitz of 1941.
